Questions/Suggestions

Hello guys,

I'm really new here, but as an old-school, anti social-media, forum lover, I kind of want to get involved a bit here and I have a couple of questions/suggestions about this place. (Also, English isn't my first language - neither is Spanish - , so if words I use make no sense to you, feel free to ask me about what I meant).

The show discussions are really good and concise and follow the database format of putting "YYYY-MM-DD" at the front for easy sorting. It's also enforced by only the database master being able to post there. It would be cool though if there was a disclaimer anywhere on this page on how to submit missing performances. It took me a while to just message @sk about it, because at the time I did not know and sk's last activity was shown as more than a month ago.

Now, the "Interview and other media" doesn't enforce this formatting rule and is much harder to sort for that reason and there's some other problems with this aswell.

It's cool that everyone can submit stuff there, but I wish there was a requirement for formatting. "YYYY-MM-DD - Source - Title" is something I would like to see as a requirement for titles, because after all, this is supposed to be a database, so sorting by date is a desireable feature (I know I already failed at that myself with the Grammy consideration post, but I saw the Latin Grammy consideration post and just went for it).

Would it be a good idea to have an "other media" forum as its own thing for everyone to post freely from social media and make a new category for "documentaries and interviews", where Interviews can have a bit of redundancy with the shows category (like the WMMR Philadelphia interview/acoustic Money for example), but formatting rules are enforced?

Lastly, should there be an extra, also somewhat redundant category for collaborations only, live and/or studio? Because it seems a bit all over the place at the moment and I think more collabs might happen in the future (Maggie Lindemann album comming out in 5 days for example).

The live collabs from shows, where The Warning performed themselves are posted in the comments of the shows threads (Eruca, TDG, Halestorm, Moderatto), the studio collabs are in the song discussions (DPS, Band-Maid) and then there's Dany joining Eruca for Fuera o Más Allá in the "interviews and other media" category.

Let me know what you think, and let me know if and how I might be able to help you out with anything if you want me to.

Cheers and thanks for reading all that ;)

Hi and welcome.

My first language is neither English or Spanish either so it’s all good.

It would be cool though if there was a disclaimer anywhere on this page on how to submit missing performances. It took me a while to just message @sk about it, because at the time I did not know and sk's last activity was shown as more than a month ago.

This is a good point.
I’m not that picky about it. Post here in the lounge or direct message me. Both works for me.
But some kind of help/information about it would be helpful and might make more people to contribute.
I’ll look into that.

Now, the "Interview and other media" doesn't enforce this formatting rule and is much harder to sort for that reason and there's some other problems with this aswell.

Not sure how to enforce that to be honest.
Except maybe have a post approval system. Or we can just go in and edit the titles if needed.
Again, some kind of help/information about the preferred format would be helpful though.
Sometimes it can be hard to know the exact dates and stuff though. So I don’t feel a need to be extremely hard on this.

I’m a bit reluctant to have to many different sub forums and stuff for such a small forum like this.
My experience is that people will just find it confusing and unsure where to post stuff.
As it is now I prefer that as much as possible is posted at each shows/songs.
The “Interviews and other media” forum was created as a dumping place for stuff that doesn’t fit on any show or song.

Lastly, should there be an extra, also somewhat redundant category for collaborations only, live and/or studio? Because it seems a bit all over the place at the moment and I think more collabs might happen in the future (Maggie Lindemann album comming out in 5 days for example).

This is a good question.
I think it works decently as it is. Live collabs at shows gets posted at the show threads and recorded collabs gets their own song thread.
Then we have some odd stuff at times that doesn’t fit anywhere though.

Again, I don’t want to over complicate things either with to many forums.
But nothing is set in stone. I can definitely see a point in this one since some cool collabs stuff gets easily buried in the show threads.

Thanks for the suggestions. I appreciate it.
Also nice to see someone that still prefer good old forums. 😀
